DIY Brown Sugar Lip Scrub Recipe
Southern California weather is strange, especially in between seasons. Right now, it’s February. It’s the end of Winter, not quite Spring. Our day starts out a little chilly. (Okay, East Coast friends…laugh all you want. 68°F is chilly!) Lately, by afternoon it’s in the mid-80’s! And it’s very dry. And so is everyone’s lips. What can you do about that? You can keep your lip balm with you at all times. Lip balm doesn’t always seem to work. Petroleum jelly (i.e. Vaseline) is helpful. Lip scrubs are great for exfoliation of dead skin and will leave your lips feeling really smooth.
Do you know how much lip scrubs cost at the fancy department stores and beauty shops? Anywhere from $9.00 to $24.00 for a tiny 0.50 oz. jar! There goes your whole allowance! Let’s make our own Brown Sugar Lip Scrub and save some money!
Here’s a simple DIY brown sugar lip scrub recipe with items you probably already have in your kitchen!
We didn’t have Coconut Oil so I substituted with Coconut Oil Cooking Spray.
- 1 tablespoon of Brown Sugar
- 1 teaspoon of Honey
- 1 teaspoon of Coconut Oil (Olive Oil will work too)
- 1/2 teaspoon of Pure Vanilla Extract (optional)
- 1/2 teaspoon of Cinnamon
That’s it! Just 5 ingredients!
Place the dry ingredients into one small bowl and mix in the wet ingredients. You can add more brown sugar to make it thicker. The consistency should be thick and pasty.
Stir with a teaspoon. You’re done!
Scoop up the mixture and place into a small container. You can find them at beauty store or arts and crafts store.
We found this one at ARTBOX at the Irvine Spectrum Center.
